Eye specialists diagnose and treat conditions, diseases and disorders of the eye.
Eye Specialists are also known as ophthalmologists (not to be confused with optometrists, who prescribe, make and fit spectacles), eye specialists are highly trained professionals with degrees in medicine and surgery, general medical experience and extensive training in the dedicated field of eye care. All eye specialists at Southern Eye are medical graduates who have a ‘Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists’ and are vastly experienced at isolating specific eye disorders, and performing various procedures including eye surgery and laser treatment. In addition our specialists have had overseas fellowships in a wide variety of disciplines including glaucoma, vitreo-retinal surgery, medical retina including diabetic eye care, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery.

Our nursing staff all have specific training in the area of eye care and are highly experienced assisting in commonly performed procedures in the fields of eye surgery and laser treatment, while our administrative and support staff are friendly, efficient, and willing to go the extra mile for our patients.
