We are proud to share the news of our very own Dr Stack joining the Board of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).
Dr Rebecca Stack is certainly well-equipped to deal with the work ahead. As an experienced cataract surgeon with a range of subspecialty interests, and having sat on boards for several private companies, she will be a welcome addition to the Board.
Being able to bring a female perspective and a New Zealand voice to the table will be a priority for the busy doctor. She’s looking forward to both challenging the status quo when necessary while also helping find solutions to current challenges faced by the ophthalmology profession. Meeting staff shortages and increased demand in rural areas will be a vital focus.
This is an important announcement both for Dr Stack and Southern Eye Specialists due to the influence, authority, and innovation that RANZCO provides to ophthalmology in New Zealand and Australia.
RANZCO acts as the training college, professional body and membership organisation for the profession of ophthalmology. Becoming a member of the board is often seen as a pinnacle moment in an ophthalmologist’s career.
The organisation sets the professional standard for Australia and New Zealand’s ophthalmologists, which is encapsulated by an exceptional Code of Conduct. Members receive the right to use the title FRANZCO (Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists) and are held to a high level of professional practice.
With her wealth of experience, far-reaching vision, and prodigious amounts of ambition and inspiration, Dr Stack is an excellent choice for a seat at the table.
She joins fellow Kiwi board member and RANZCO’s Censor in Chief Dr Justin Mora, and Australian board members: RANZCO’s President, Professor Nitin Verma; Vice President Dr Grant Raymond; and fellow members Dr Diana Conrad, Dr Robert Griffits, Dr Andrew Crawford, Professor Nigel Morlet, Dr Christine Younan, Associate Professor Clare Fraser, and Professor Peter McCluskey.
We wish her all the best in this important work.
