Putting one paw in front of the other for Blind Low Vision NZ
At Southern Eye Specialists we love our dogs and, obviously, supporting Kiwis in their sight journeys is at the heart of our work. That’s why Pawgust is such a good fit for our team to support.
It costs around $175,000 to breed, raise and train a single guide dog over its working life. This Pawgust, the SES team are lacing up (and leashing up) to do our part.
Pawgust is Blind Low Vision NZ’s annual fundraising challenge, encouraging people and their pooches to walk or run at least 30 minutes a day throughout August, whatever the weather, to raise money for guide dogs. Over 180,000 Kiwis are blind, deafblind, or have low vision. It’s why such fundraising efforts are so important, and why we were keen to be involved.
If you’d like to sponsor our walks, head to the Pawgust website and search for us under our team’s name: “The Hounds of Southern Eye Specialists.”
While August is a month known for its dodgy weather we are locked in and ready to clock up some serious kilometers. And each step forward is easy knowing that every dollar raised goes straight towards helping Kiwis live with more independence and confidence.
